Auctioning the Ainsleys
by Laura Schellhardt
directed by Amy Attaway
Victor Jory Theatre at
Actors Theatre of Louisville
The fast-talking Ainsleys can auction off an estate in a heartbeat – after all, it’s been the family business since they were kids – but when it’s time to sell the auction house they call home, their own emotional antiques start to get in the way.
By developing their individual neurotic positions on “possessions,” each of the four Ainsley siblings and the matriarch have learned to cope with their family and the secrets they keep. It’s only when an unlikely ticking clock forces the return of prodigal daughter Avery that they must finally confront the objects that own them.
In the fast-paced and funny liquidation of their lives, the Ainsleys find they are capable of great things - if only they can let go, grow up, and move on in time to accomplish them.

Help Make it Happen
Being scrappy and innovative only gets us so far. It costs money to rent performance space, build scenery, and purchase advertising. And we believe in fair compensation for our artists and partners, so we can’t pay for everything through ticket sales alone. Can you help us with one of these important items?
- $3.50 buys one wooden 2x4
- $30 covers printing programs for one night
- $100 keeps our website online for a year
- $250 buys costumes for one show
