Once upon a time, in 2005, a young Russian-American dyevushka sets off to Moscow to reconnect with her homeland. She finds instead a magically unreal land of witches, bears, and very high heels. But, as in any good fairy tale, the smart young heroine finds friends to help her along the way. Together they battle a basket of fighting potatoes, an oven that’s just the right size for a girl, and many older people trying to do them harm, as they try to find an apartment (and a grown-up life) that fits just right.
